Almost all mainstream accounts of Epstein's rise to riches and infamy begin with him as a teacher at The Dalton School and then he's off to Bear Stearns to make his fortune. But there are numerous fringe articles that hint at something else.
Just last week I read a story claiming Epstein owned a company that specialized in buying bad consumer debt at a discount and then trying to collect on it. Company was busted for fraud, if I recall. Did not pay much attention and can't locate it now. It hints that he started out as a low-level scamster and became a very good con artist of the rich. Much like Bernie Madoff. Except Epstein had the advantage of dangling 10 and 12-year girls as a, "Wait! That's not all" inducement.
