I might be slightly off with Carbyne directly connecting to NYPD, but I swear it was in the wikipedia entry last week. Anyhow here's some indirect connections for you.

That would be the recently altered wikipedia entry for Carbyne.

As of last week, that entry mentioned Carbyne covering Cities in Mexico, And NYC and I think it said San Francisco. The wikipedia entry has been changed now and mentions next to nothing.
