Xbox Game Pass game Outer Wilds just released. Was playing through as I am a game pass member, which is like a game console version of Netflix, and always do a quick check on the new additions to the game library to play. Within a few minutes of playing I said to myself, "this game is weird".
It seems to be made for kids, yet contains a LOT of reading as none of the characters have voices. Yet the script of the game seems also geared for kids. Your character is an alien on a small planet containing a colony of aliens like you. What seems out of place is the game contains a very dangerous environment with permadeath conditions for falling into water, where you will summarily drown. The characters speak candidly about morbid topics as well.
However, within the tutorial, you play a game of Hide and Seek using a phallic-like signal detector gun to find a couple of very young alien kids. Ok. Strange. A few minutes later, after completing the turtorial and getting launch codes for your ship to explore the galaxy, a statue with glowing eyes turns to you suddenly, putting your character in a trance, and flashes a bunch of quick memories of your playtime in a strobe like fashion. What the...?!
Seconds later, you last off the planet in your personal rocket ship to visit some nearby ruins on the planet's orbiting moon. You land, and find the entrance to a subterranean cave of some ancient civilization where the entire entrance is littered with man/boy love pedophile symbols from the FBI declassified document we all know. There could be more too but this is where I immediately stopped to post my findings here.

Questions I have for further digging:
-Who made this game?
-Who funded this game?
-Is this a grooming product?
-Is this designed for an adult male to spend time playing and reading the game to very young children?

Gets old, doesn't it? I feel the same way with movies and TV, now.
