FBI Reportedly Investigating Ryan Adams for Sexual Misconduct With a Minor (pizzagate)

One day after multiple women accused Ryan Adams of abuse, the FBI has reportedly opened an investigation into whether the singer had inappropriate contact with a minor. According to the New York Times, which broke the story, the FBI has taken the first steps of opening a criminal investigation into Adams based on allegations made in the original Times piece that he exchanged sexually explicit messages with a girl identified as Ava when she was between 14 and 16 years old (when Adams was around 40). Per the Times, sexually exploiting a child under 18 is a federal offense: “a violator [is defined as] anyone who ‘persuades, induces, entices or coerces any minor to engage in’ a visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct.”

I found this very interesting (by a music journalist writing about the allegations against Ryan Adams):

...publicists for male indie stars ask for guarantees that allegations and evidence of an artist’s bad behaviour aren’t referred to in interviews, and often receive those guarantees.

Managers intimidate women at public events because they don’t like the way they have written about their male charges.

Music magazine editors sideline female employees who raise red flags when plans are made to cover well-known creeps.

Publications continue to write about men outed as beasts once the heat has died down – having profited from clicks on righteous op-eds at the time of the outing – and venues continue to book them, disregarding protests.
