Review finds 71 Scouting abusers used camping trips in 60s, 70s and 80s
Review of the organisation identifies 71 alleged abusers and 108 cases so far
The revelations of the extent of historic abuse in the youth organisation, which has 40,000 juvenile members working with 13,000 adult volunteers, were disclosed by Minister for Children Katherine Zappone to the Oireachtas committee on children and youth affairs on Wednesday.
Mr Elliott, who has been conducting the review, said the cases of alleged child sex abuse were identified from an audit of historic records, interviews with former members, and from abuse victims who had come forward to the organisation in recent months.
He told the committee he expected the number of known victims to increase “quite considerably” as the review was still ongoing, and victims were contacting the organisation at an “increasing” rate.
Scouting Ireland officials believe the disclosure of the initial 108 cases of past abuse would likely result in further victims coming forward.

Scouting Ireland: How the scandal unfolded:
In 2016 a female volunteer made an allegation to Scouting Ireland, claiming she had been raped by a male volunteer, on a camping trip in 2009 when she was 18-years-old.
In 2017, Scouting Ireland asked Mr Elliott to conduct a detailed review of how the organisation dealt with the allegation. His confidential report criticised the actions of four senior volunteers; chief scout Christy McCann, chief commissioners David Shalloo and Thérèse Bermingham, and former national secretary Ollie Kehoe.
The review found the male leader accused of rape had sought to put pressure on staff managing the case. The man was suspended from the organisation following the allegation. The gardaí investigated the matter, but the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) directed against prosecuting, after which the male leader was reinstated.
...
In another Irish Times report in April, it was revealed the male leader accused of rape had not undergone Garda vetting before being readmitted into Scouting Ireland, despite recommendations from gardaí that this take place.

This is going to be huge. Why in the world do they all of them say the same thing, similar worlds that mean absolutely nothing to the Victims. The RCC and the Boy Scouts have made attempts to apologize, but it just keeps happening. Shame on the people that were entrusted with the care of these Children, for they have completely failed them. Thanks for Posting. UpVoat.

We have to consider that the leadership entrusted with the care of these children is sexually attracted to them--thus the foxes guarding the henhouse.
See this 2015 article about how a gay man almost became Chief Scout of Ireland: https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/gay-irish-scout-drops-out-of-leadership-race-after-receiving-threatening-email-31462454.html
And here we see that the next year Mr. Gildea was, in fact, appointed to a leadership role for 2018: https://www.facebook.com/ScoutingIreland/photos/a.226338770748532.51600.200101836705559/943243649058037/?type=3
These kids are sitting ducks. What are the parents thinking?
And did you catch Gildea's day job? Director of Operations and Corporate Services at the Adoption Authority of Ireland. Yeah, all kids all the time.
Transcript of the full interview with Gildea, in which, you will note, the subject of whether he's sexually attracted to young boys never even comes up: https://theirishscouter.com/2015/08/18/kiernan-gildea-exclusive-interview/

Question...if one of ur near and dear ones was abused by one of these protected networks ...how would u go about seeking justice or even enforcing justice... Remember the police , the fbi, judges are all compromised... How would u still enforce justice for ur near and dear one ?

An anonymous email which contained insinuations and threats, which led to his immediate collapse
The email triggered repressed guilt he had felt at being gay and threw him into depression
"The message triggered a flood of bad feelings about myself
WHAT MORE DO THEY NEED? He is admitting he even has horrible thoughts about himself. WAKE UP People in Ireland. This is an accident waiting to happen. These Children are being put in Harm's Way. I don't know why this happens over and over just about everywhere. Don't they have others willing to take his place? Some parent should step forward and take over the post themselves.
We are very pleased to announce
YES. Fox Hen House. I am at my wit's end. I can't even.

Carm, what I'm saying is we should consider the probability that ALL the people running the organization at the top and in charge of filling other leadership positions are sexually attracted to kids, and they're boosting their like-minded friends into top roles. These are the people who say..."We are very pleased to announce..."
It's rotten at the top and shot through with rot. Not just a matter of weeding out a few bad ones.

Ugh. How Horrid. The whole thing must be shut down then. What else to do? Parents must insist a whole clean out or else. The whole top tier must go. This is so sad for the Children. The same with our Boy Scouts here. Again parents are asleep at the wheel. They must grab hold of this guy and shake his brains out of his head and throw him over a cliff. What do you propose? When it is that infested. Either shut it down or a complete overhaul. But who will do it and who can they trust. That is always the question. So sad.

Shut it down. Kids can go on camping trips with their own families and friends. Any formal organization in this day and age will be targeted for takeover by LGBTQRSTXYZ interests with the backing of the ACLU in the courts if anyone opposes them. This is what happened with the Boy Scouts of America.

You are correct they will pull the same shenanigans again. We have seen this movie before. These are tests for the next step. With the head of the country and his partner looking like Macron and Trudeau the Children will not be protected. More than likely those two would make visits to that Campground. Yuck.
