This is a fantastic use of a lot of conspiracy tropes.
First there is the meaningless definition of connections
"Connected to" aka not connected to in any way, but in the area. Wow. Given these rules I am connected to this
Secondly, the fudging of facts to skew the probability.
exact same sparsely-populated region in the middle of nowhere
AKA a world famous tourist spot that gets 400,000 visitors a year, is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list, and a place where the near bye resort will be happy to set you up to tour the area on one of these
Two problems with this evidence you're giving, KofH. First, the exhibition you cite was in 2013, not 1980. Secondly, if the performance was done on video, it doesn't really prove she was in Ireland not in Australia.
It was performed twice. Once in April 1980 in Amersterdam and once in Dublin in August of 1980. The video that is well known today was performed in front of live audience in Dublin.
ROSC took place every four years from 1967 to 1988. ROSC is a Gaelic word for the "the poetry of vision."

If correct, this still doesn't mean she spent the whole month in Dublin though.
Her book and some of the various sites I just looked up. She had a couple of pieces again in Dublin that she earlier peformed with Ulay.
If correct, this still doesn't mean she spent the whole month in Dublin though.
Of course it doesn't. But this along with the quote from Vogue that her Outback trip started in October 1980 seems pretty definitive, doesn't it? In fact, if you read the original text from the NY Times, it does not say they spent their entire time near Ayer's Rock. ROSC '80 seemed to be going on at least the first half of August.
Dude, the Vogue Piece I linked to is enough. Her Outback Trip started in October 1980. The child was taken in August 1980.
The Vogue Piece does not say her Outback trip started in October 1980. It says:
"The legendary artist spent between October 1980 and March 1981 with the Pitjantjatjara and Pintupi people of the Western Desert."
A few lines later, they quote Abramovic herself saying:
"I’ve visited Australia many times since 1979"
If you are going to get after people for inaccuracy, you really should make sure you are being accurate yourself. It seems like there is a lot of spin going on here.
Her first visit in 1979 was for an art show, the Sydney Biennial. Her second trip to Australia was when she was with the Aborigines and Vogue gives those dates as starting October 1980. She was with nomadic tribes travelling through the Outback.
The part you quote is her talking in 2015.
“I’ve visited Australia many times since 1979 to study Aboriginal culture. I participated in artist residencies and the Sydney Biennale.”
Abramovic first came to Australia in 1979 with her then partner, German artist Uwe Laysiepen – Ulay for short. At the Sydney Biennial, they performed a work called Brink: Ulay walked back and forth along the top of a wall and Abramovic kept pace with his shadow until the sun set.
The following year they returned to spend six months in the Great Victorian Desert with the Pitjantjatjara tribe. Abramovic describes this as a pivotal experience,
She and her collaborator in art as well as love, German artist Frank Uwe Laysiepen ...were invited to participate in the third Sydney Biennale, titled European Dialogue, in 1979. In their first attempt to visit Aboriginal people, they turned up unannounced in Alice Springs with a letter of introduction to the lawyer and activist Phillip Toyne. He sent them away, irritated by their presumption. .....They returned in 1980 on an Australia Council grant and stayed for almost a year, six months of it in the desert, ....... It was her first encounter with a nomadic culture, of people who don't cling to possessions, who take what they need from the land and move on.
She and Ulay hooked up with Pitjantjatjara and Pintupi people and travelled with them: Abramovic with the women, Ulay with the men. "
Cattle stations are just ranches. And aborigines own cattle stations. There are a bunch in the North Territory which is where Ayer's rock is.
They lived for close to a year in Australia, mostly with the Pintupi and Pitjantjatjara tribes near the giant red monolith Uluru and in big Outback cattle stations.
You are misreading this I think. They spent six month in the outback over all. During that time they stayed with these tribes and on big cattle stations. The tribes are nomadic, so what I think the writer is getting at is during their time in the outback sometimes they moved around and sometimes they stayed at ranches. Their year in Australia spanned 1980 and 1981 at the end of their stay they debuted Nightsea Crossing, so at some point they left the outback and went back to the art world.

In August of 1980 Ambramovic was performing these pieces in Europe, Dublin I believe

I'm afraid that KoH is right, Vin.
ROSC might have been an art festival perhaps?

Do you suppose you could hook us up with links to "some of the various sites" you just looked up?
If this YouTuber is spreading fake news, we need to be able to document it.

It's just amusing that not only can you account for her in August 1980 she was performing one of her most famous pieces live.
I didn't link to them because no site had the full story....none of the sites made sense on their own.
You can look in her book and search for Dublin. Rest, Energy was performed live in Dublin. https://books.google.com/books?id=RxiICwAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&dq=Walk+Through+Walls:+A+Memoir+(Hardcover)&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi5jZnV5-DcAhWOUt8KHRlgB7oQ6AEIKTAA#v=onepage&q=dublin&f=false

Yes, and as an article I quoted above says, the time she didn't travel with the Aboriginal people, she spent at Outback cattle stations.
So - since we don't know where these cattle stations were - or do we? - we still don't know where she spent the rest of her time in Australia.
We would need the proper dates for the several performances at ROSC, and info about when she actually left for Australia.

If you really want to pin down were they were you may want to look up where these nomadic tribes lived. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pintupi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitjantjatjara
Ayer's rock seems to within Pitjantjatjara land while the others seems to be to the North and West.
