I recall reading one of the Jackson 5 (Jermaine I think it was) talking of how their father used to take Michael to meet men when he was a young boy and how Michael would be sick for days after these meetings, so I have no doubt Michael Jackson was abused as a child. I don't bring it up as a defence of any kind for Jackson's abuse of children, but to illustrate how child abuse is virulent; harm is not only done to children being abused but approximately one third of them will go on to abuse children themselves.
I agree, kids sold out by their families for fame and fortune seem to fetch substantial returns for the parents
I have my suspicions the same might have occurred with Brian Wilson and company from the Beach Boys (their father was moderately successful in the music industry, getting his foot in the door to make a deal) - it kills me to think/know such brilliantly written music is so tainted...
also makes me question exactly HOW the music was written - Brian Wilson was undoubtedly a genius (MJ too I guess, idk how much he actually wrote) however, I very much remember Aleister Crowley writing that by practicing that hardcore magick one could become a musical genius... it bums me out
