The threats against them have skyrocketed.

In 2016, there were 902 threatening incidents and communications against members of Congress. By 2017, the reports had more than doubled to about 2,000, according to the House Sergeant at Arms office.

This is actually a big deal. They direct a lot of ire at the POTUS, a literal lightning rod for every gripe in the country, but by far and away, the most scandalous and egregious abuses of government originate in Congress. People carry on blissfully and blame their dissatisfaction on whomever is in the Oval Office, however.

Yes, the President does not make or vote on the laws. We need a much more educated public. Civic Classes for all. Put the blame where it belongs.
