Anyone know if there is a pig problem in that immediate area?

“We use straps to tie the food up to keep the javelinas away,” he said. “There was no tying of any individuals, children or anything.”

Javelinas are technically pecarries and are native to the US.

I can tell you from personal experience that Texas is slap full of wild pigs. I have killed some of them myself.

from what I read, they really stink

a lot of wild animals coming into populated areas for food

We have these bad boys around my house. Those Havelinas in that pic ain't shit compared to the pigs in my neighborhood. These pigs around my neck of the woods will kill you and eat you.

I grew up with wild pigs. The whole southern United States is full of wild pigs. They stink, they are mean, they tear up land and property, they can kill you if they want to, they will eat damn near anything, and they taste pretty good.

up here, deer fills the freezers

These are supposed to be straps to tie food up?! I doubt it.

Are_we_sure ago

Why?

The same type of straps are found in other homeless camps in the area. The same type of straps are found throughout that camp used to hold things up

Would you have photos?

“Obviously, Tucson is a desert. We don’t have a lot of shade, so these kinds of camps are very common,” a police spokesman said, explaining the underground portion of the encampment. As for the straps, the spokesman said: “We see those in every homeless camp we encounter. They look the same as other straps that were holding up parts of the structure.”

Laurie Mazerbo, chief program office of Our Family Services, a nonprofit that helps homeless families and the victims of human trafficking in the Tucson area, said that the encampment “looked a lot like any other camp we see in our desert” for homeless people trying to escape the heat.

The crossbeams on these trees are held up with this type of strap https://media4.s-nbcnews.com/j/newscms/2018_23/2457751/180607-homeless-camp-arizona-mn-1110_7494b16cb223886fc2ba39d2716d520d.focal-1000x500.JPG
