I was going to ask if this could be mistaken for a homeless camp, but 7 mins into the video he says the nearby homeless say they dont go there, its drug cartel territory
A Tucson Police Department spokesman, Officer Hawkins, claimed that there is an ‘ongoing investigation’ into the camp. He also said that police don’t believe it is a ‘trafficking camp,’ despite the presence of many tell-tale signs of such a site.
The local police also had a handy way to explain away the rope ties in the trees. They claimed that they were a common way for the homeless camps to string up tarps, to provide both shade and cover from the rain.
Even the bunker dug into the ground was explained, according to them, by the fact that homeless individuals will often dig into the ground in order to be cooler.
But Veterans On Patrol, who found the site, have lots of experience with sites where homeless people live. It is basically their job finding these. So if these guys think that the alleged trafficking camp is different from anything they've seen before, they should be trusted.
As a Tucsonan, NO they do not use straps on the trees to "string up tarps" that's BS. I've seen so many of these places around the industrial areas and the washes, I call BS. The homeless want to take everything with them to the next location, so the tarps are 'directly' tied to the trees or whatnot, not to a strap hooked to the tree, which is something else they have to transport. The TPD does all the same ass covering lying all police departments do. I'm just happy they are way less violent than other places and the whole Masonic thing isn't big here at the rank and file, it's here, just not huge. Shooting someone's dog around here is rejected by the vast majority of the department, they love dogs.
