I can't believe this. I studied this case like 30 years ago, and thought too much time had passed. I wonder what's changed that they were just now supposedly able to solve this case.
I've got to admit, the moment I heard from a buddy in law enforcement that there is a press conference for today at noon, I immediately thought of Q, and you guys.
So, have I missed something? Has this been discussed at all? Just coincidence? Any theories?
This is incredible!!!

What's changed is Michell McNamara got obsessed with this case and joined an online community of crime buffs to try to crack it. Then she wrote a book on it that is currently a best seller. Michelle McNamara's book is really good. I'm sure the attention she brought to this case helped crack it. She's a great writer and apparently very good on cold cases. The real detectives working on this, respected her enough to turn over the case evidence to her, 57 boxes worth. She gave him the name the Golden State Killer because he moved around. Crazy case, he escalated from burglary to rape to murder.
They never "had him.'' Yes, he was arrested for shoplifting and he was tossed off the police force. It's only in hindsight would anyone know that he was involved in these murders. It's not you go to jail for life for shoplifting.
Press conference should be in about 90 minutes.
