There are two separate ways to consider 1914... it is either metaphysical Bible stuff, murky and hard to understand... or it is a prophecy that connects to reality in an important way.

I have been looking into this: I found many national economies were prosperous in 1913 (not Mexico), few wars, some great composers (“gymnologie” is one a beautiful concerto from the time), a world fair about “the summer of peace”, etc. We all know how 1914 turned out. 1915-1917 had the Spanish flu. Tanks, guns, gas attacks... these all started after 1914. That doesn’t seem outrageous because we are frogs being awhile in the boiling water, but to an ancient person, this would be wild stuff. Frankly, the worldwide violence hasn’t stopped since 1914. The more I look, especially at 1913, the more compelling it gets.

I guess there were lots of wars and terrible times in the past, but not on a GLOBAL scale, and not with such intensely high numbers of casualties.
