I'm sorry, but after a cursory search of the event I'm not seeing where it's "promoting" pedophilia.
The event, in my limited understanding, seems to be more of an open talk about how Man-Boy love is a dubious behavior and practice in modern times, and how Man-boy love affected author Jean Genet.
If our reaction to everything outside of "the norm" is IIIICCCCCCKKKKK ---- we've already shut down all room to open up a tough, honest conversation. Might as well go back to surfing cat videos and Dank Memes.
Not that I agree with Men grooming/ raping boys, not at all.
I'm just saying that I hope there were a few in that University of Michigan audience that stood up and walked out to show disgust, or at least ask some really tough questions about the subject:
Does the speaker think it is okay for a man to groom a boy? Does the speaker think that the "relationship" becomes okay once the boy "likes" it? Where does the speaker draw the line between "criminal pedophilia" and "romantic pedophilia" -- does the speaker think there is a difference at all???
The tone is politely critical, and scientifically objective, which seems reasonable, but carries a whitewashing and subtly accepting effect within the context of critical discussion and inquiry. Basically there saying “this is here, it’s real, so let’s think about it”. Kinsey all over again.
Exactly, the correct response to pederasty would be to say that it was an ancient practice that should no longer be tolerated or rationalized in any way, shape or form. Period. This is an attempt by pedophiles to latch on to the LGBQT movement. If you can get people to think that in some cases, sex with a minor isn't so bad, you are moving the bar closer to your eventual goal which is to have sex with children be acceptable under all circumstances. It is about pushing boundaries and, as far as sex with children is concerned, there needs to be a hard line drawn. There aren't any gray areas. If you are an adult, don't have sex with a minor. The fact is that for legal purposes, there has to be a cutoff at some point. Even if someone is 18 and the other person is 17, you can wait until they are of legal age to have sex or you can find a partner who is old enough to have sex now. It isn't that difficult to follow the law. If you think they are your "true love" -- sucks for you. Plenty of people fall in love with someone that they can't have (they are married, gay or just not into you) and they get over it. Deal with it.
I get what you're saying — but I have no doubt — @carmencita has it right on this, and I can't say it any better...
They use fancy words and phrases that go round and round so you don't know what they are saying. Well, here it is. Sex between men and boys is now considered. part of the Queer Family. LGBTQ and I bet they are just dying to add that P. And yes, it is Not a Relationship. That is something Two Consenting Adults have. They are trying to get people to believe that Pedophiles are "Born That Way".
Here is something I left out. They use the term kinship and queer family. Kinship is their attempt to bind them all together. Also the queer family term similar to "one big happy family" all related, you get the idea. In other words, they are all the same. Nothing to fear folks, Pedophilia is just like being a homosexual. That is their New Mantra, imo. @thnk

There isn't such a thing as 'romantic pedophilia'. This is a term pedophiles use. (Not saying you're a pedophile.)

Yep, and what a shame this has to be spelled out.

Yes, I hope many more will see this post. There is much to learn regarding their agenda.
