There is a connection. He persecuted/ratted out his own priests during the CIA takeover of Argentina .Makes you wonder if his getting to be pope was political and not religious?
Definitely political. He was just another piece of the puzzle to put hilbot in the white house, by delivering the Catholic vote. So many in the church are so mad she didn't win. Especially the ones running Catholic Relief Services.
