I grew up reading a lot of James Herriot, and while not representative of the whole nation, one can't rightly say British men are all beta because they aren't. Cultural norms have them expressing their machismo in other ways when compared to Americans. Fuck, watch the aftermath of a soccar/"football" game, or some rugby. Just about as bloody as a boxing match.
