Paedophile ring leader Michael Emerton, who went by the name Ginger Beak on dating app Grindr, has been jailed for abusing children

The head of a paedophile ring whose members live-streamed each other while subjecting young children to sickening abuse has been handed nine life sentences.

Michael Emerton, who went by the name Ginger Beak on dating app Grindr, also used Skype and TruNude to establish the depraved network with five other men, who would then transmit the sexual images to each other by videolink.

On several occasions 33-year-old Emerton arranged to meet his accomplices to take part in sex acts in front of children.

He admitted 20 offences earlier this year, including four counts of rape of a child and three of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and was given seven life sentences as a result.

Emerton, of Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, later admitted further offences including conspiring with the other defendants in order to rape, commit sexual activity with a child or engage in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

He was given a further two life sentences.
