I came across this news report: Traffickers jailed for enslaving Vietnamese women in UK nail salon. It reminded me of the Dept. of Homeland Securities human trafficking awareness campaign video, (the
one you've all seen) featuring the tagline "the signs are everywhere". A
segment of the video shows 2 young Asian people working in a
nail salon and cuts to a concerned looking customer, the owner appears to be an older looking Asian woman. I did some searching
and found a blog post which talks about nail salons being connected to sex trafficking, the article links to a news story about a "madam" on Queen's NYC being arrested for terrorizing sex slaves at two locations disguised as nail salons. Then I remembered Terasol Bistro, which has a nail salon next door called Lucky Nails and lo and behold Lucky Nails is owned by... Vietnamese! (and does massages). I wonder if Terasol & Lucky Nails are connected in some way? Terasol Bistro is across the street from Comet Ping Pong, Bucks and Besta Pizza and uses the FBI's "girl lovers" pedophile symbol as it's logo and was visited by Hillary Clinton no less. Maybe she popped next door to have her nails done afterwards? Who knows. Anyway thought I'd put this out there. Maybe we could look into nail salons being used as fronts for human trafficking and prostitution, the DHS video seems to suggest that there is a connection.
Note: This thread got deleted yesterday and the top link from the Japan Times about the UK nail salon has been removed from their website. Luckily I saved the article, so I expect this thread will be deleted again. Let's see.

I heard this years ago. The girls can then be put to work in two different markets. Also if a girl can't do sex work for say medical reasons, she's still able to do the nail bar.
Once stuck at traffic lights close to the city, I noticed a shop where a new nail bar was being installed. I watched two middle-age, somewhat paunchy Chinese guys inspect the work with satisfaction. These guys appeared to my eyes like gangster types. The gangsterishness of these two made me really believe for the first time the rumoured nail bar connection with brothels and human trafficking.
I always wonder would the mostly white (at least in my city), all female customer base of these nail bars care if they knew how dodgy the business was. Women's strong need to look as good or better than other women might be just as strong as men's need for sexual relief.

No matter which city I'm in or what nail salon I'm at there is always a mean older Asian woman ordering around the techs. It has always given me the feeling of how a madam would act to her girls
