I remember when teens we would put green ribbons in our hair and bought decorations with Leprechauns on them to decorate on St. Pat's Day. Little did we know what was really behind it all: Leprechauns were originally evil, demonic creatures that could wreak havoc on everything in their path (like in the film of the same name). Their power was held in their shillelagh rod/staff, which is a perversion of Aaron’s rod that had powers from God. The shillelagh is also believed to be a symbol for Moloch, the horned god. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon had a temple of Nimrod (with the single or double horns; represented as aka Moloch) where sacrifices were given, as referred to in 2nd Kings 23:10: Another Tradition Bites The Dust.
