They 'found' them because the statute of limitations has likely run out - unless they can prove aggravated sexual assault which, if we're talking Singer, I suppose is entirely possible given the parties described. With minors, the current (criminal) SOL runs out a year after they go to the police. But I don't know what the SOL was at the time the assaults were committed, which is what they'd be held to.

Yeah, I thought it was a bit out there so did some falling down the rabbit hole as it were and came across something where a "homeless" person shot and killed his ex who was in the middle of writing a book about their affair.... consensus was he had paid off the guy to kill her - police wrote it off as random killing. it was apparently in broad daylight in the middle of a street.
