DAN GERTLER IS CONNECTED TO PODESTA. I didn't find any results for "Gertler" in the podesta emails, however the Podesta Emails reveal that four years ago at this time, Skippy Podesta was working on "DGI-related matters." Link is here: https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/50755. NOTE - DGI is the name of Gertler's company, according to Wikipedia (archived here: http://archive.is/KpNhs)). Perhaps we can search for terms related to the many pies in which Gertler dips his bloody fingers. . . .

Whoever Dan Gertler is, Soros' son Alexander "retweeted" the below tweet from "Global Witness," which actually references, w/ an attachment, the president's executive order.

Soros' son is basically saying, "Yes, we welcome busting this guy via the president's new executive order."

The quote: "We welcome US sanctions imposed on billionaire mining magnate Dan Gertler, who US Treasury says “amassed his fortune through opaque and corrupt mining and oil deals” in ......

Alexander Soros is on the Advisory Board at Global Witness. https://www.globalwitness.org/en/about-us/advisory-board/

Here's a report from last year that Global Witness did on Gertler's activities in the Congo.

So ... tho the law has been in effect, Trump is making use of it for the first time.

And it is QUITE FAIR to say it is a "new law," as indeed it is, "relatively" new, however, only just now being applied.

It's only just now being applied because you can't just put some one this list, there's a whole back and forth process between Congress and Treasury Department. The name are suggested by Congress and vetted by the Treasury Department, the Justice Department and the State Department. Congress fowarded a list of 20 names back in August

In fact, the executive branch was accused of dragging their feet on this sanctions. http://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/355000-sens-mccain-cardin-scold-trump-for-missing-russian-sanctions-deadline

Trump is not doing anything new or unexpected. He is executing a law passed by Congress.

Thanks for the info. Trump is first pres to apply the EO.

the first action under a broad sanctions law passed a year ago.

The intriguing part is the "national emergency" aspect.

I think the main list of 20 names suggested became 13, I think, people sanctioned by name. And the others are connected to those 13 names. Seemed to be a lot of company names.

So if Dan G is sanctioned, they also sanctions companies and banks working with him.

Yeah, that's how the treasury list was put out.

In an Annex to the Order, the President imposed sanctions on 13 serious human rights abusers and corrupt actors. In addition, the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), acting on behalf of the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Attorney General, imposed sanctions on an additional 39 affiliated individuals and entities under the newly-issued Order.

Big Bold names being the 13 and then a list of related entities and people.

Dan Gertler Dan Gertler (Gertler) is an international businessman and billionaire who has amassed his fortune through hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of opaque and corrupt mining and oil deals in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Gertler has used his close friendship with DRC President Joseph Kabila to act as a middleman for mining asset sales in the DRC, requiring some multinational companies to go through Gertler to do business with the Congolese state. As a result, between 2010 and 2012 alone, the DRC reportedly lost over $1.36 billion in revenues from the underpricing of mining assets that were sold to offshore companies linked to Gertler. The failure of the DRC to publish the full details of one of the sales prompted the International Monetary Fund to halt loans to the DRC totaling $225 million. In 2013, Gertler sold to the DRC government for $150 million the rights to an oil block that Gertler purchased from the government for just $500,000, a loss of $149.5 million in potential revenue. Gertler has acted for or on behalf of Kabila, helping Kabila organize offshore leasing companies. In a related action, OFAC designated Pieter Albert Deboutte, Fleurette Properties Limited, Fleurette Holdings Netherlands B.V., Gertler Family Foundation, Oil of DR Congo SPRL, Jarvis Congo SARL, International Diamond Industries, D.G.D. Investments Ltd., D.G.I. Israel Ltd, Proglan Capital Ltd, Emaxon Finance International Inc., Africa Horizons Investment Limited, Caprikat Limited, Foxwhelp Limited, Caprikat and Foxwhelp SARL, Lora Enterprises Limited, Zuppa Holdings Limited, Orama Properties Ltd, DGI Mining Ltd, and Rozaro Development Limited.

Thanks, it will be interesting to see just how much Trump tests the limit of controversial powers that are the president's under a "national emergency," due to president's perceived threats to national security.
