Having spent time working in Cebu my guess would be that he made the mistake of alerting the police to a member (or members) of the pedophile cabal on the island. The police there run,or profit from, most of the organized crime so I can't see how a dead pedophile would be of any use to them. A whistle blower though on the other hand...
