Myself and family were actually in this place until it closed in 1981.

I lived 36 mins away. My dad left and went to England when all of 7 us kids, the oldest one was only 11 years old. Guess my mom gathering us all onto a train in the middle of the night, off to England in search of him was a good thing in the long run!! She might have been forced to give us up to that hell hole. I can't ask her if she knew anything about Smyllum Park Orphanage as she passed away a few years ago, but guessing she could tell a few stories about it since her family lived nearby all her life until the move in 1961.

Oh my. I never knew that about you. I am so glad your Mother was a good Mom. She did what she had to do to protect her children. Many Mothers were fooled into thinking those nuns would be good to children, how little they knew. Your like must not have been easy, but I am sure you must have felt your Mother's love. She not only kept you from that dreadful place, but she also kept you all together. What a Strong Mom.

Thank you :) OH I think my mom had an inkling of what 'good catholic nuns' might be like, (she was not catholic) but my dad was a 'good catholic man' who beat her black and blue when drunk, which sadly was almost daily. Fortunately I was only 7 when he left for the 2nd and last time so I didn't see the worst of it. He was a good worker and fun to be around when, I remember, but I am a half-glass full person. Thanks to my mom I never witnessed it, if I did it is blocked out. I remember we were always whisked away upstairs by our older siblings having fun games and singing at the top of our voices, it only dawned on me when I was about 21, married and living abroad what was going on. Can you believe one day I was vacuuming and a flash crossed my mind of us all up stairs singing, I remembering the call from my sister to my mom downstairs asking if we could come down, I heard a smash of crockery before we all started our sing-song again! I honesty remembered nothing, even though I did notice my mom had bruises etc., but never in my wildest dreams thought it was my dad, to me he was the fun one to be around. - Well thats a bit more than I was going to say, but YES I think my mom was amazing to keep us all together, that was her motto, she kept us all together.

Thanks for your personal story. There are many of us that have lived through things we do not like to remember. I have had flashbacks too all of a sudden, and it is amazing what they reveal. Many times the ones that suffer the consequences are the ones that end up being blamed. Alcoholics can be fun to be around when not drunk, and know how to make up for their assaults when sober. This never makes up for the suffering they cause. When I think of the Saints the Catholic church has canonized, it is all a sham. Your Mother and others like her are the Saints we need to honor. As you know, You were so lucky to have her.

Thank you, carmencita youre very sweet. Good t have good people around fighting for these little ones who can't fight for themselves against these monsters. We really need to see someone going down very soon. :D

There is a rumor that one of the really Big High Rollers in Hollywood is going to Go Down Today. We are waiting for someone like Hillary, Bill, JP or TP but I have a feeling it will involve pedophilia which means rape of children. Now what we have to start doing is making a lot of noise and demanding Charges not just Monetary Deals.

Is he talking about the youtube vids using disney characters?
