This difference is emphasized by the thickness of the frame, which appears more like a flat surface than an enclosing line.

Interesting, but, seems like a reach.
It's like saying if you drew black heart on white sheet of paper you made two hearts, one white one black.
but you only drew one heart and I think that most folks would agree on that.

That's just depth. I could draw a heart on a piece of paper in a way that gives some depth to it.
