"Then, in 2001, she claims the married Lauer summoned her to his office at 30 Rock in New York to discuss work. She says he then used a button under his desk to lock the door and then told her to unbutton her blouse.

She said the veteran broadcaster then stepped out from behind his desk, pulled out a chair, bent her over, and started having sex with her until she fell unconscious.

The woman told The Times she woke up a while later on the floor of his office with her pants halfway down her legs, prompting his assistant to take her to seek medical attention.

The ex-staffer, who has not been named, is one of a string of women who have come forward accusing Lauer of sexual misconduct.

Imagine finding a coworker naked on the floor after being raped by the boss. I don't understand why anyone would cover for someone in this manner.

Some traumas are so unbearable and unthinkable that the mind responds this way as a defense. Imagine abuse survivors with suppressed/repressed memories. Those flight or flight responses are certainly plausible. The part that I don’t understand is how she continued working there for a year without reporting...? Maybe she was advised by a lawyer or law enforcement in hopes of gathering evidence or support? I’m trying to wrap my head around that...

I stayed friends with someone who forced themselves upon me as we were dating at the time and I was so young. It was only as I got older I began to understand the severity of what had happened as it affecting intimate partners after him. I was then quick to cut contact.
