From what i understood, the French never had minimum age laws to begin with and they are throwing around this age of 13. (Which is far too young) but they aren't lowering it doesn't exist.

That's not really true. The penal code says it's 15 years old, even though it's doesn't use the term "age of consent"

Indeed...They just have set a hard stone limit clear as day so it would be easier for the justice to punish.
