This event occurred in June at Rocklin Academy Gateway School in Rocklin, CA, and the repercussions continue.

The children bring in their book of choice to be read by the teacher. A "transitioning" kindergartner brought in the book "I am Jazz", by transgender activist, Jazz Jennings, that tells of the struggles of having "a girl brain in a boy body." Later that day, the teacher also read from the book, "Red: A Crayon's Story," about a blue crayon that has been mislabeled as red. Since the incident, 14 families have pulled their children from the school.

Regarding CA transgender law, the CA State Senate Bill SB-179, passed legislature on 09/14/17 and has been sent to Governor Jerry Brown for signing. This bill creates a "third" gender for birth certificates and driver licenses.

Greg Burt of the CA Family Council stated, "This particular bill allows a parent to change the gender of their children, no questions asked, no doctor's note required."

There is also CA Bill SB 219 which passed legislation on 09/12/17 which calls for the jailing of people for up to a year for not using provisions of choice for patients in long-term care facilities and also not discriminating against men claiming to be women or women claiming to be men when it comes to room assignments.

I use the words of Ben Shapiro (love him or hate him) to show pizzagate relevance: "The American left now celebrates when transgender children are given hormone therapy. So why wouldn't they buy into the argument that children are capable of learning and experiencing sex with adults?"

To date, "I am Jazz" remains on the CA Department of Education's Recommended Literature List for grades K-2.
