Furthermore, the biased 'reporter' comparison between Sheriff Joe's years and other cities rates of suicides means nothing.
First, he doesn't ever actually tell us what number he is using for the number of suicides.
But that is an estimate, because the truth is that no outside authority keeps track of how many people die from brutality, neglect, disease, bad health, or old age in Arpaio's jails.
Second, he compares different years and the number of years. Why does he use a short time frame of 3 years, 2000-2002, when pulling data for the other cities.
In jailhouse deaths across the nation, the U.S. Department of Justice notes the following rates of suicide over a three-year period from 2000 to 2002:
• Los Angeles: 11 percent.
• New York: 9 percent.
• Cook County (Chicago): 6 percent.
• Philadelphia: 14 percent.
• Harris County (Houston): 13 percent.
• Dade County (Miami): 6 percent.
Third, why does he not use the entire years of Joe's tenure. Why does he start at 1996 when Joe's service starts at 1993.
The bottom line is right in his report, but he and you ignore it.

In and of itself, the number is not necessarily out of line with jail deaths in other jurisdictions.
And presumably "Commoner" is out to alibi for Arpaio and Trump racism.
