He became a billionaire because of it and millions of people play Minecraft. It's so popular South Park had an episode on it and it's getting it's own movie and had a Telltale games spinoff. Yes and no. Continued and growing awareness forces their hand, and mistakes. Obviously hard evidence is great but can be suppressed the same. Look at all of the missing evidence in the Seth Rich case and the mailed Hillary laptop, tarmac meeting, etc.
If people don't care, nothing gets done. Just ask the FBI and their "perceived" understanding of public disinterest.
