I thought the same thing. They must have some kind of protection somewhere, considering they operated for years before being approached by police, and only one guy was imprisoned while the rest were let go.
If I have learned anything at all it is this. All cults lead to the CIA...they keep them as their pets if not run them outright themselves as a never ending supply.
