I was just watching this video about the Gospel of Judas by Bart Ehrman. He discusses Gnosticism, and I thought it goes to the plot line of Chapel Perilous.

Parts of the divine are trapped in human bodies. The Gnostic religion is designed to set them free. Acquire the secret knowledge of who you really are.

One thing to note is the Movie "Me at the Zoo" with Chris Crocker was also produced by James Alefantis and one of the production companies was C-Hundred Film Corporation which was founded by Michael Stipe from R.E.M.

Me at the Zoo (2012)

Chris Crocker is a video blogger from a small town in Tennessee. The film traces a line through a tapestry of web comments, response videos, fans, and haters to map the controversial rise of an Internet folk hero.

interesting to me that the first two films chronologically, invoke technology as a central element.

At the Zoo obviously tells the story of a drama that lives and breathes in the internet.

Meanwhile Chapel Perilous is a common man's great enlightenment only to be dropped back into reality where he sits back at his computer 'working'. Yet unable to remove the knowledge he's gained a new burden to his once simple life.

Also to be more specific the Serpent examples you provided we're of the Ouroboros. A symbol used throughout the world, most understandings invoke the cyclic nature of life and heavens.
