I'm really tired of the growing trend of law enforcement agencies busting people involved in lower-level prostitution (johns, prostitutes, pimps), slapping an unearned label of "trafficking" on there, and saying "Hurr durr, looks like we did something about (human|sex|child) trafficking!".
All they did was entrap johns online and punish the prostitutes, while the uninformed public will eat it up thinking that something is being done about trafficking. This, at least what I can gather from the article, are not the arrests we need in order to effectively dismantle trafficking networks.
That's some elementary pimping. Sleazy, illegal, underage teenagers, yes. However:
It doesn't even put a dent in the cartels and coyotes that smuggle children to the US for sex, nor does it do anything about the shipping containers of people brought in by mafias. Or the hundreds of thousands of missing children that disappear. You know, actual trafficking networks and not just greasy pimps pushing high school tail (which is still wrong, just not an actual trafficking network)
