Throwing this morsel out there:
There may or may not be a link, but my gut tells me something is up. I cannot research this as I am traveling and don't generally access social media profiles, which is where I think you will find the link, if there is one. The victims were white guys. Not a 100% guarantee, but very atypical for the locale (look at maps, street view and property records and crime stats for Fairfax County) If there is something to OP, it's all yours.

Wasn't there a story out on the same day Awan was arrested about Secret Service involvement in some kind of disturbance in Wash D.C? http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/secret-service-special-officer-accidentally-shoots-himself-while-on-duty/article/2629666, https://www.mediacircus.com/2017/07/person-wounded-in-secret-service-involved-shooting/
Official story first was someone was shot by Secret Service at 1100 L St.Wash., DC (site of the Dept. of Justice), then the next story was special service officer accidentally shot himself in the thigh while on duty.

I think I was wrong on the white part. As in I jumped the gun and assumed they were white, given the names. Not a lot of blacks with those names in the area. I'm on the road and my ability to do searches is extremely limited.
Ummm...does anything strike you as odd about the photo on the GoFundMe page? Assuming one of those two men are Ryan, both of them are flaming as hell. Which is more unusual than being white, given the circumstances.
This thing doesn't sit right with me....
