I'm genuinely appalled at CNN for this behaviour, a powerful organisation threatening to doxx a private citizen over a harmless meme, a disgusting abuse of power. And there's talk that Reddit provided them with info, which would come as no surprise to anyone from the old PG subreddit. Glad to see Wikileaks calling them out on this: https://mobile.twitter.com/wikileaks/status/882422267166195713

When did WaPo do this?

Mad_As_Hell ago

Apologies, WaPo was mentioned when I read about this first thing this morning but apparently had no direct involvement, have edited my comment accordingly

No worries, I was just hoping you were right, honestly.

First paragraph:

The Reddit user said he never intended his anti-CNN meme — you know, the one tweeted by President Trump in which the now-president beats up CNN in a wrestling match — to become a call for violence against journalists.

Translation:

The Reddit user never thought the President would retweet his funny meme, and we would start labeling it a call for violence.
