For starters, Ben Franklin -- who was a double agent working for the Crown -- had the remains of 15 people, some children, excavated under his house in London at 36 (3 + 6 = 9, the number of Satan) Craven Street.
I am fully aware that the Founding Fathers were human beings with human flaws. I am fully aware that many of them were Masons.
But even given that, I am reluctant to say that whatever transcendent evil they were privy to was one bit as bad as what we see today.
Note that I am not defending them per se. You show me evidence that Ben Franklin was sacrificing kids and I'll be the first to piss on his grave.
These men were not saints. Thomas Jefferson owned slaves, for fuck's sake. But the fact remains that they were committed--at least on paper--to an idea which lays an extremely powerful framework for a society. There's no denying that. It can be improved for sure, but it's a good fucking start.
We can and should criticize the Founders the other 364.25 days of the year. But let's at least give them the one day.
