My Uncle Oswald was written 15 years after Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, so it seems more likely that he was making a dumb joke. If it was a coded pedophile story, he sure did a good job disguising it as a series of childrens' lessons on manners, health, etc.
Roald Dahl was a strange bird. Who knows? His father was a dentist! and not a nice Dad. He was rather cruel. Also Johnny Depp played in the Choc. Factory. We have been debating all the characters he played that were pedophiles. But, I do agree that the movie, Willie Wonka did not tip me off to anything, and I know that movie backwards and forwards.
