You don't get into a position of power unless you can be blackmailed. Comey wouldn't not have been selected unless he would have been willing to fail to charge one of their own.
It's really unfortunate that the MSM has been getting into conspiracy theories and so now conspiracy theory has lost it's credibility. Prior to CNN joining ranks, the conspiracy theory community was starting to get to 10/10 status on everything. We've been shown to be right over and over.
