There have been a string of assassinations in Ukraine recently and my understanding is that the malware hit Ukraine first and then spread, but I don't know if that's true. But I saw sources saying Ukraine was under a cyber attack this morning.

NPR is saying it was concentrated in Ukraine.

Ransomware hit at least six countries Tuesday, including Ukraine, where it was blamed for a large and coordinated attack on key parts of Ukraine's infrastructure, from government agencies and electric grids to stores and banks.

So I assumed this was related to the war raging there.
