She probably didn't like his abuse and wanted to report him so he killed her and set her on fire and they covered for him. He's probably involved with the cabal in some way and they covered for him, now they called in the favor he owed them by trying to kill Scalise for wanting to investigate human trafficking. They could also blame it on guns to further their cause.
Very good analogy and could be very possible. They are masters at cover ups and then all of a sudden they can drop their "players" like a hot potato. There are so many holes again to this rabbit hole.

The guy that did the shooting was abusive to 2 of his foster daughters, one even set herself on fire.

I seriously doubt a child set themselves on fire over one incident. there has to be a history. me thinks
