There is something about Seth that the family is divided about disclosing. The father who wants to solve the murder gave Wheeler some personal info that perhaps he would have preferred not sharing but felt Wheeler needed to know it to do a proper investigation and Wheeler preserved that confidentiality. Meanwhile the brother felt there was no need to pursue the murder perhaps because he wants to safeguard the same personal information and the true story of Seth's murder is not going to bring him back, so why bother. Wheeler also believes there is some connection to Shawn Lucas' death but is not at liberty to discuss it.
That info the father gave probably had to do with Seth's unnatural obsession with stuffed panda bears! I personally think Seth was a homosexual, but just my opinion.
Not all homosexuals have pandas on their beds or in their office. The obsession with pandas is really sick if you are a pedo. Seth was not a pedophile. Everyone that loves pandas is not a pedophile. Just because you are gay does not mean you are either. Some pedophiles just happen to be gay just like some heterosexuals happen to be pedophiles. Please, This thinking needs to stop.

We need to remove our filters. There could be an entirely different reason. Something not to do with sexuality at all.
