Inmates are transferred to different facilities for TONS of reasons. They cite Sandusky's safety as the reason, and this is entirely legit -
“We make individual decisions based on facts,” Corrections Secretary John Wetzel told The Associated Press in 2012.
“Given the high-profile nature of this individual, coupled with the nature of his crimes, this makes him very vulnerable in a prison setting.”
Given those circumstances, Sandusky had a private cell at SCI-Greene, Wetzel said in 2012. Corrections officials added that most of Sandusky’s time would be spent in his prison cell – including meal time, counseling and personal religious services – and on occasions when he was permitted outside the cell, he would be accompanied by security.
Now, Sandusky will continue serving his sentence at the medium security, 2,406-inmate SCI-Somerset prison.
