Great catch. This is very strange. A US Attorney is found murdered with a gunshot to the head and it makes no news headlines. Then the FBI refers questions to local police. That does not happen ever. All cases of Federal prosecutors are automatically investigated by FBI & Dept. of Justice.

Found this in another article. Whisenant had been working on visa and passport fraud cases, according to court documents. He also taught a paralegal program at the University of Miami. Don't know if this helps. Trying to find out if he was working on some really important case, that might have cause him being killed. Great post btw. Upvoats are in order.

he was dressed in business clothes and nothing was stolen. I think this one IS related. They are either getting bolder or more desperate. (both?).
Wife is a doctor and they had a young child, probably not suicidal. Went to University of Florida.
