I knew something didn't sit right with this movie when I saw it with my girlfriend. I was ready to admit it was most likely just a traditional Maori symbol and even deleted the topic until ArthurEdens pointed it out to look the hook. That pic with the hook is pretty damning evidence.
I bet the guys tattoos might have other esoteric symbols as well. Even the flip side of the hook might have more crap on it.
