It's alright. I am pretty empathetic toward people I can relate to. I cannot relate to sentient beings. I'm sure they understand, since they're so much more woke than I am.
The saddest part of this is realizing that I was not understanding sentient correctly. I am stupid.
So, back to the beginning shall we?
I need to eat. And, luckily for me, they are available for me to eat. If I stop eating meat today, it will not stop the slaughter of thousands more today. That said, I can't justify quitting eating meat. I like it too much.
I know that you don't see it as different, and I respect that. In fact, for lack of a better word, I kind of envy that. And like I said in my other reply, I didn't know that you were talking about factory farmed meats. That, I probably would be willing to give up. For example, I live in a rural community so I could buy meat straight from the farmers. It would keep money in my county anyway.
To be fair, though, I am absolutely for an Extra Terrestrial race completely wiping humans from the planet. As I would consider them to be my superior beings, provided they are able to get here.
Well, some people see the whole of creation as a staircase which has inevitable plateaus of development.
Veganism changes us on the molecular level. The pathogenic flesh eating bacterias, remove themselves from us. Think of that as a microcosm of the universe.
This was a really good discussion to bad it was deleted. I figured it would be. I am working on giving up meat. I did for about a year and have fallen off the wagon, but only eat it about 3 times a week. But I only buy organic and not from those big factory farms. I try to do the best I can. Keep it up. You are doing the right thing. Right now, we need to get people to just eat less of it, maybe cutting all out is just too much for most. We need to do it incrementally.

I haven't eaten pizza in months already though. I'm not gonna stop eating meat. Good thought, however.

If you don't stop eating meat, you are allowing sentient beings to suffer in agony since birth.
Why does that not concern you?
palmitespo910 ago
Because I don't know any of them and I have no proof that they exist.

You failed the empathy test. You will not graduate this time.

How do you know if they are so much more awoken, if you cannot relate to them?
That premise is a relationship.

You're not stupid.
Maybe the evil ones of the one wont consider morality because they like what they are doing too much? Do you see the problem with lax moral reasoning?

Oh we've always been here, encoded in the DNA.

I also choose to often entertain the notion that we ourselves are the extra terrestrials.

I feel stressed and dull when I eat meat.
carmencita ago
Yes! Exactly. I must admit I felt a lot better then. I am probably going to try it again this summer.
ProbablyHoly ago
I'll do it with you.
