It was never proven to be fake. News bureaus had it since the before the election, but they could not verify it. So they didn't publish anything on it and held back on it. Since last year the FBI/CIA have been saying several parts have now been confirmed. The FISA warrant on Carter Page used some information from the dossier which probably means the FBI corroborated the info in other ways.
Every single time this BS is brought up the facts that have been verified are never clearly delineated and stated. So just what has been confirmed? I hear "more is being confirmed" well what the hell does that mean. Trump went to Russia. Ok so that was in the dossier and it can be confirmed. WHAT ELSE?
This is probably the biggest one. The dossier had Russia behind the DNC leak to Wikileaks last July as part of a campaign to hurt Hillary Clinton. I think our Intel agencies didn't say this for months. Though you may not have need inside sources to know this. The dossier had a source saying Russia had more info on Clinton it was going to release. This was months after Podesta's emails were hacked but months before they were released. A later reported identified this info as emails and said they would be released after late September.
Other info that has been confirmed, a diplomat working in the Washington Embassy as a economics expert was revealed to be a spy.
Conversations detailed in the dossier were confirmed to have taken place, CIA went back and looked at intercepted communications found the dossier had the people, times and locations of these conversations correct.
I believe our intel agencies now know who the sources for the dossier are.
Russia seems to be taking the dossier quite seriously. The diplomat/spy was rushed back home to Moscow. The man believed to be source B was found dead in the trunk of his car, one of series of deaths of Russian diplomats since the dossier was revealed.
