Not only did Russia do it, a Russian pedophile did it. One known for producing and publishing cp. So, any evidence of abuse we find while digging around was obviously planted.
This is based on that infamous dossier. The pedophile's name was "misspelled" in the document, and was in jail at the time of the hacking, but it has been concluded that he was involved.

It was never proven to be fake. News bureaus had it since the before the election, but they could not verify it. So they didn't publish anything on it and held back on it. Since last year the FBI/CIA have been saying several parts have now been confirmed. The FISA warrant on Carter Page used some information from the dossier which probably means the FBI corroborated the info in other ways.

The dossier ranked things by how much confidence it had in what it was hearing. It was not highly confident of that.
