When a kid is raped by a priest, pastor or other church official the crime is compounded. Their minds are betrayed along with their bodies. In the case of Catholic priests, they tell their flock they hold the entrance to heaven or hell in their hands. Then they do to a child something a child is told is a sin. It is IMO a double betrayal. International Boy Lovers is a public face to pedophilia. No doubt religious pedophiles are much more hidden and would not fill out a survey. I see no evidence that religion deters pedophiles and in many cases gives them better access to victims.a Often exposing them is hard because the flock refuses to believe the words of a child over a respected leader and thus they are facilitators.
It is worth noting that announced religious affiliation does not mean that one is truly religious. If one judges by actions rather than words no pedophiles are religious, but that applies to all who do not do unto others as they would have them done to themselves in other category of behaviors.
