Despite what the beginning of that article says, this aqueduct system is not "abandoned" and in fact is still a key component of the city water system. I hope you aren't under the impression that DC homes, businesses, and offices lack running water because the water supply system is used for smuggling children instead of supplying water. I'm pretty sure someone would have noticed that.
