I guess it was "escape despair" and not "relieve stress". What the F, that is even worse! Escaping despair means "gaining hope". How does he gain hope from the sexual torture of children?

The lawyer in the Norwegian Darkroom case who was in court also said that he used it to relieve stress/therapy against depression. Same defence.
