One thing I've always wondered is why the Sandlers (they are BILLIONAIRES) would want some pillows mailed back to them?
Does this really strike you as odd? They bought them, the obviously wanted them. They probably wouldn't be in Martha's Vineyard for another year. Mailing things back to clients is probably a detail that high end summer realtors do all the time.
The whole MV trip just boggles my mind. I'm a 40-something year old male, with a family... and there are precious few people in my life (outside of a very core group of friends and family) with whom I would want to rent a vacation house. These people seem to barely even know each other, yet they are eager to go bunk in the same house together.
Do you truly find this mind boggling? Seriously? People sharing summer houses on a place like Martha's Vineyard or The Hamptons is very common. And it's usually a mix of folks who you are close to and then friends of friends. Perhaps this folks are just more social than you are. Even if it's something you would never do, you can understand people still do it right. I'll never jump out of a plane, but people do it.
Also if you were going to be sharing a summer house and one of the people you didn't know won the National Humanities Medal and a McArthur "genius grant," you'd pass? Sounds like an interesting three days to me.
