• Mar 17, 2014 Herb informs John: "I've rented a house in the Vineyard Haven area of Martha's Vineyard, arriving Saturday, August 23, departing September 2. Susan and Steve and a friend of the family from Hawaii, Sherry Broder will be joining us. We have a couple of extra bedrooms. You and Mary can join us for all or part of the 10 days we'll be there. There's probably a lot of people you know who will be there. Hansjorg is usually there that time of year and Bob Solow is likely to be there as well. Let me know."
• Aug 1, 2014 Herb asks Bob if they (Bob and Dale) can get together in Martha's Vineyeard between Aug 23 - Sep 2. Herb tells that there's him with Susan and Steve and a few other friends joining during the first days. Herb also wants to "pick your brains" for an idea. Bob replies to Herb that him and Dale are on the Vineyard until Aug 27, hoping to get together with Herb, Susan and Steve. Bob asks if they two could take the other three to Bob's club for dinner on Aug 24th or 25th.

• Aug 29, 2014 John thanks Herb for a wonderful vacation, telling he might have left his glasses in the house, "May be on the table in the living room". Asks Herb to grab and mail them when he gets home.
• Aug 30, 2014 Tony writes to John hoping Vineyard was great and asks John to a film festival next year. Ask also how's Mae doing and sends love to Mary
• Sep 1, 2014 Susan writes to John telling how she enjoyed having time and relax with John&Mary. Susan thanks John for teaching her "the domino game" and plans to get a set herself.
